Let’s be honest: sometimes your marketing feels… off.
But you’re too close to it. You’ve rewritten that homepage 12 times. You’ve posted, emailed, promoted, crossed your fingers. Still, crickets. Before you burn it all down (tempting, I know), try this: a quick audit to find the leaks in your marketing.
Set a timer for 60 minutes. Go.
1. Start with your homepage (15 mins)
Ask yourself:
- Can a stranger tell what I do in 5 seconds?
- Who it’s for?
- Why they should care?
If not, your messaging needs work. Most DIY sites fall flat here. Too much “we help businesses” and not enough “here’s what’s in it for you.”
Fix: Rewrite your hero section. Say what you do, who it’s for, and the outcome. Bonus if it sounds like you.
2. Look at your last 10 posts or emails (10 mins)
Check for:
- Clarity (not cleverness)
- Consistency in tone
- A clear call to action
If everything sounds different or there’s no clear next step, you’re leaving results on the table.
Fix: Create 3 go-to CTAs. Rotate them. Be intentional.
3. Check your content mix (10 mins)
Categories to look for:
- Proof (testimonials, results, screenshots)
- Personality (you, your values, how you think)
- Teach something (show your expertise)
- Promote something (it’s OK to sell)
Fix: Pick one category that’s missing and plan 2 posts around it. Low lift, high return.
4. Test your links and lead magnets (10 mins)
How many clicks does it take to book a call, sign up, or buy?
How easy is it to download your freebie?
Do all your links even work?
Fix: Click through like a user would. Simplify the flow. Fix the dead ends. Your CTA shouldn’t feel like an escape room.
5. Pretend you’re a cold lead (15 mins)
Imagine you just heard about your brand from a friend. Google yourself. Click the link in bio. Would you be convinced? If not, neither are they.
Fix: Rewrite your LinkedIn headline or Instagram bio so it’s clear, not cryptic. Make your next few posts easy to engage with…even for people who’ve never heard of you.
Done 🎉
That’s one hour. And you probably already found 3 things worth fixing.
No big strategy deck. No course. No “ideal customer profile” worksheet.
Just clarity. The kind that makes your next marketing move a whole lot easier.
