Let’s start with a reality check: in a recent LinkedIn poll 57% of newsletter subscribers said they only open emails “when the subject line grabs them.”

OK, cool. Nothing new there.
Now add Apple’s new iOS’s email summarization feature to the mix, and we’re facing a whole new challenge.
ICYMI: Apple Intelligence‘s new email summary feature creates AI-generated blurbs of your emails, meaning carefully crafted pre-header, punchy copy, and clever opening hook might never reach human eyes.
So, 57% of people are already selective readers, now AI is summarizing your message for them!
Your marketing message has to pass TWO filters: AI’s and your reader’s.
Welcome to the new era of email marketing, folks. ๐
Time to adapt:
๐ง Be crystal clear about the main message. If an AI is going to summarize your email, make sure the key points are unmistakable.
๐ง Front-load the value. Don’t save the best for last – your “big reveal” might get lost in translation.
๐ง Consider shorter, more focused emails. One clear message is better than three diluted ones.
๐ง Add value that AI can’t summarize away – like personalized offers or exclusive time-sensitive deals.
๐ง Test your copy! Ask AI to summarize your email in 10 words or less. If the key message is there, great! If not, start rewriting!
Here’s a little test for you to try:
-Take your last 5 emails
-Run them through an AI summarizer (like ChatGPT or Claude)
-See if your main message survived
-Adjust your template accordingly
