Yeah… I’ll share a Coke.

Ok, The Coca-Cola Company. I feel seen. Growing up, I could never find my name on ANYTHING, so when my daughters spotted this bottle at a random rest stop recently, I HAD to pick it up.

This campaign is so darn effective because it activates several core human behaviours and biases. And I fell for it all, hook, line and sinker. ๐ŸŽฃ

Why?

People are hardwired toย love hearing or seeing their own name. It triggers a dopamine hit. โœ… It’s even more special when you have an uncommon name.

Humans craveย social connection and recognition. When you find your name, it feels like Coke seesย you ( โœ… see first line of post) and thatโ€™s powerful.

A Coke bottle withย yourย name feels likeย yours. Suddenly, itโ€™s not just a $2 bottle of soda, itโ€™s aย personal keepsake.

Finding your name feels rare, like it’s meant to be. And since this is a limited edition campaign, the chances that you’ll find it again are slim. $2 seems like a small price to pay for fate! (โœ… Did I mention the random rest stop was in Pennsylvania? On our drive down from Montreal to DC? Because my daughter had to pee RIGHT FREAKING NOW!!!?)

When people post their bottles or share them with friends, others see it and feel left out. That (FOMO)ย drives others to hunt for their name, share their own bottles, and keep the trend going. (โœ… see picture)

So now, here’s a question: would you buy a bottle if you found one with your name?
